Beard acne and its treatment

There can be multiple reasons for beard acne, but the problem usually boils down to poor hygiene and men ignoring beard grooming. The best beard balm for acne prone skin helps to reduce the collection of dust, dirt and debris throughout the day, which stick to the hair follicles. And that debris together with oil and sweat becomes a breeding ground for bacteria and clogs the sebum producing glands, which results in the development of red painful bumps aka acne.

One should follow a proper cleansing ritual with sulfate free shampoo to keep the skin and beard clean and healthy. However, it’s equally important to understand the right method to cleanse. It’s very important to exfoliate the face twice a week with a gentle face scrub.

Never forget to apply a moisturizer and a sunscreen. Using a good moisturizer can reduce skin irritation by soothing the dry skin.

Although cleansing is important, one of the easiest ways to get rid of the dirt and dust particles sticking to the beard is combing. Comb as much as we can and as often as possible. Combing will help loosen up the impurities from the deeper fibres of your facial hair.

If we love using beard oil to soften the facial hair and make it look tamer…good. But we will have to cut down on it. Using too much beard oil and not washing the face properly can leave some residue behind. That can further mix with the debris and natural oils secreted by the skin and worsen the acne.
